The Giant horned lizard Phrynosoma asio is endimic to the Pacific coast of southern Mexico. It is the largest horned lizard and is able to survive in the desert. The spines on its back and sides are modified scales, the horns on its head are true horns. The Giant horned lizard is not an aggressive animal and can be handled as long as done so with care. Approximate life span is 10 years.
